The piece, which was first performed in 2009, takes place in a hotel room and is designed to be witnessed by one person at a time. Set to original music specially composed by Portuguese musician Paulo Furtado, aka The Legendary Tigerman, Cometa is a study of the longings, desire and discomfort that attends the close encounter of strangers.

The sculpture was commissioned to commemorate Manuel da Silva Passos and José da Silva Passos, two brothers who made an indelible mark on Portuguese politics in the 19th century. Two Gemini captures the pioneering spirit of the two radical democratic leaders.
