Pia Fries will be the subject of a solo exhibition at Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. In 2018 a generous gift sees Fries's series parsen und module, dating from 1999 and comprising 30 identically-sized pictures, enter the collection of the MAM Paris. Accompanied by thirty other paintings and drawings recently presented at the Museum Kurhaus Kleve, Germany, this emblematic work is the nucleus of an exhibition offering an insight into the different facets of the Swiss painter's oeuvre.

Museum Kurhaus Kleve will present Hendrick Goltzius and Pia Fries: Proteus and Polymorphia opening on October 8, 2017. The exhibition presents the work of late 16th and early 17th century Dutch-born German copper engraver, draftsman and painter, Hendrick Goltzius alongside the work of contemporary painter, Pia Fries.

Pia Fries will be the subject of a solo exhibition at the Moss Arts Center in Virginia. The exhibition presents a collection of Fries’ paintings that integrate silkscreened fragments of 17th century Baroque and Mannerist prints into a hybrid fusion of figuration and abstraction, art historical tradition, and adventurous innovation.
Pia Fries to Receive Altenbourg Art Prize

The Lindenau Museum in Altenburg, Germany has named Pia Fries the winner of the 2017 Gerhard Altenbourg Art Prize. Fries is the first woman to receive the award in its nearly twenty year history. In a press release, the Lindenau Museum Board of Trustees stated that they selected Fries as a "representative of pure painting," noting her unique approach to color, dimensionality, and allusions to Art History.
