Eucalyptus Trees, Sky, and Even More Plants
The installation is comprised of two glass towers installed in the interior of the Justizzentrum (Center for Justice) in Aachen, set into the dominant oak-grid structure. These towers encase the rear stairways in a U-form and extend from the large hall to the fourth floor: an illusive reflective wall in contrast to the surrounding architecture. Although the work adheres to the proportions of the building and is oriented to the height of the hall, it also “blows up” the spatial relationships by dramatically enlarging the underlying motif – a photograph of the façade window of the Eames House in Los Angeles. The image as a whole remains concealed from view, continually reappearing in altered form through the floor divisions or interrupted and fragmented by the inner façade.
