ART FAIRS

Christopher Grimes Gallery recently participated in the Volta Show in Basel, Switzerland from June 2-7, 2008 with a solo show by German artist Veronika Kellndorfer. The gallery was invited to host a booth at Art Forum Berlin from October 31-November 3, 2008.

ARTISTS


KATHARINA GROSSE

was recently acquired by the Centre Pompidou, France, the Kunsthalle, Kiel, Germany, the Kunstmuseum in Bern, Switzerland and the Museu Serralves in Portugal.


HERBERT HAMAK

was invited to create an installation at the Forum Romanum in Rome, which will be on display for one year in 2009. Hamak also completed a significant site specific installation at the Museo di Castelvecchio in Verona, Italy. This project was curated by Luca Massimo Barbero. In addition, he was commissioned to create a 7 meter column that is currently installed in the main garden at The Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, Italy.


ANTHONY HERNANDEZ

published a new monograph entitled “Waiting, Sitting, Fishing and Some Automobiles,” which surveys his early black and white photography taken in Los Angeles during the 60s, 70s and 80s. The Tate Modern acquired Hernandez' Pictures for Rome #17, 1999 and the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, recently purchased his Landscapes for the Homeless #20 from his most recent show at the gallery for their permanent collection. Hernandez will be part of an upcoming group show at the Huntington Library, Pasadena, opening in June 2008.


ANTON HENNING

is on permanent display at the ARP Museum Bahnhof Rolandseck, Remagen, Germany with his work Interieur No. 253. Henning was invited to participate in the group show “SIZE MATTERS: XXL - Recent Large-Scale Paintings” at Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, New York which opened in October of 2007 and runs until July 27, 2008.


VERONIKA KELLNDORFER

continues to have her major work titled Eames House on exhibit in the main exhibition hall at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin, Germany. She recently completed a large-scale commission at the Judicial Center in Aachen, Germany. Kellndorfer is currently working on a commission for the Family Ministry Building in Berlin, Germany. Kellndorfer’s work, Tokyo Story (Schindler Studio House) was acquired by the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles and featured as part of their permanent collection in an exhibition entitled “Hammer Contemporary Collection” in 2007.


TAKEHITO KOGANEZAWA

will participate in a show at Otis, curated by Meg Linton from July 26 – September 13, 2008 entitled “Looky-See.” From April 10 through June 22, 2008 the Japan Foundation and Museu de Art Moderna de Sao Paolo, Brazil will exhibit works by Koganezawa in the group show “When Lives Become Form: Dialogue with the Future – Brazil, Japan.


ESTER PARTEGÀS

will hold a solo show entitled “Ester Partegàs: The Invisible,” at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield, Connecticut from March 9 – August 10, 2008.


MARCELO POMBO

was commissioned by the Blanton Museum of Art, Texas, to create a project for their Workspace series which works with emerging and mid–career artists from around the world. He will exhibit this project, which will consist of a temporary hotel room inside the museum’s galleries, from October 4, 2008 – February 22, 2009.



JULIÃO SARMENTO

is currently participating in the group show “Brasil: desFocos [o olho de fora]” curated by Paulo Herkenhoff and Nessia Leonzini for the Paco das Artes in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Sarmento will be featured at Centro Jose Guerrero in Granada in a one person show entitled “Printed Matters,” curated by Delfim Sardo. He will also be the focus of a major solo exhibition at the Serralves Museum in Porto, Portugal in 2008. The show will feature a large body of new work with a historical component as well as representing video, photography, painting, sculpture and drawing.



ALLAN SEKULA

recently created a large-scale outdoor project for the Huntington Library in San Marino, California entitled “Edit Nine” which runs in conjunction with their new exhibition “This Side of Paradise.” Sekula was one of ten visual artists to receive the esteemed United States Artist Fellowship; an award given to honor artists working in eight different artistic disciplines at all stages of their careers. He was also recently invited to participate in the group show, “Street Art, Street Life,” curated by Lydia Yee for the Bronx Museum of the Arts, set to open in August 2008. Sekula will also have a solo show at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, Illinois in September 2008.
