Christopher Grimes Gallery was pleased to host a conversation with Virginia Heckert and Thomas Weski in conjunction with the closing of Ulrich Wüst: Stadtbilder | Nachlass. Virginia Heckert is the Curator and Department Head of Photographs at the J. Paul Getty Museum. Her area of expertise is German photography between the two World Wars, late 20th-century American photography, and contemporary photography. Thomas Weski is the Curator at the Stiftung für Fotografie und Medienkunst mit Archiv Michael Schmidt in Berlin, Germany, an authority on German photography of the 1970s and 80s and current guest scholar in the department of photography at the Getty Museum.
The conversation provided informative historical context to the works in the show and invaluable insight into Wüst's history and process.
